Other than time-lapse, it’s been a while since I posted anything from my drone. These two clips use a cinematic capture referred to as a ‘reveal’. The first is a ‘crane’ shot where the drone climbs vertically and the second is a ‘pull’.  The scene is Mt. I went and set up this timelapse in the wee hours to capture the Milky Way setting and then the sunrise over the back of the snow capped Remarkables. While it may look good on your phone here on Instagram, I actually didn't get my focus bang on. Small issues like these become lessons learned. Thanks for your ❤️ and commets. Here's my effort from last weekend where I got the Milky Way setting which meant a 2AM start.  I had hoped my 23mm lens would keep the Galactic Core in frame all the way to sunrise, but it seemed my motion gear had other ideas.  What did turn out well was a fixing a nagging issue with DaVinci Resolve crashing making it hard to render with the deflicker effect applied.  Now it works magically with my PC rendering a 1200 frame 4K clip in a few minutes.  There was a lot of flicker caused by my ramper but DaVinci blitzed it and smoothed it all out.  Happy camper ! @centralotagonz #Fujifilm #fujifilmgfx #GFX100 #GFX100S #mediumformat #newzealand #kiwipics #timelapse #timelapsemovie #best_timelapse #holygrailtimelapse #tourismnz #realmiddleearth #cameralife #earthcapture #shainblumff #matjoezfeature #canyonlands #beautiful #newzealandfinds #newzealandvacations #astrotimelapse #landscapephotography #nature #naturelovers #milkywaychasers #milkyway #astrophotography #cromwellnz #blackforestmotion

A recent high over the country provided clear skies and the opportunity to get out and capture the night sky.  They don't come often, particularly around the new moon period, so I had to get out and shoot a time-lapse. This scene started out with a midnight trip in to the Bannockburn Sluicings, close to home. I can't get enough of this place, especially the texture in the cliff faces eroded by weather and time.  The area reminds me of my trip to the Canyonlands of Utah in the USA.  Here I tried for a Milky Way setting over this butte (a hill with steep sides and a flat top) which I didn't quite achieve. Anyway, the Milky Way raced ahead of my motion settings, hoping my wide angle lens would keep it in frame.  Setting up in the dark can be difficult but some preparation the weekend before helped.  I love the intensity of the light at sunrise making the scene very contrasty and intensifying the colours.  Captured on the FujiFilm GFX 100S with the 23mm f/4 lens. The huge sensor of this camera captures so much detail and a huge dynamic range that means I have way more latitude in post production. Thanks for your likes, comments and shares.
